Day 5!
Day 5!
Day 5 of sobriety and feeling wonderfully optimistic that I will/can do this! I haven't had any cravings to drink...not even when my husband came home and put a handle of vodka on the counter, which is a miracle.
I had been drinking half of a 1/5 of vodka or tequila every single night for the past 3-4 years. Before that, it was a bottle of wine nightly, but I switched to hard liquor because the wine bottles were piling up so fast it was embarrassing.
I've been able to make the decision to stop drinking due to:
a) God's help and mercy
b) Working through the "30-Day Sobriety Solution" book - super helpful and eye-opening as to why I drank. I highly recommend, it's a lot of hard work!
c) The final straw was having a panic-attack on the freeway with my little one in the car (even if no alcohol is present in the body, it can cause these attacks)
Anyhow, I have had ZERO withdrawal symptoms. I count myself blessed. I have a new motto - "Be Sober Today."

Island,
I quit for the same reason.
It took me over a year clean to really start to feel free.
Every day clean is a bit better, but the year was the beginning of some amazing serenity.
Stay clean.
