Another newbie

Hello all,

I am on day one again today. Made it through the end of the workday and about to commute home. This is the dangerous time, as I walk past two drinking holes that I have frequented for years. Also, the many bottle shops before I get to the bus station.

Once I get home I will feel so glad I didn't stop, though. I feel pretty much garbage today and that should see me safely home. Have to work on a plan for when I feel better, as I always seem to "forget" the misery of drinking after two or a few days and then have to start over again.

Reading the threads here has given me a lot of comfort in knowing that I am not all alone in this, and hope that I can make it stick.

Thanks

hi spartan and welcome

i do lots of exercise as a tool to burn off those resentments (my #1 offender).

Great job on choosing not to drink today!

I totally know those feelings-good job, keep it up!

Thanks January and Fortress. Exercise sounds like a great idea, I am extremely out of shape after years of excessive beer intake + bad food. Would be great if I could sweat out the many years of accumulated toxins.

Welcome to SR, that 2-3 break that makes you feel normal again is a killer. It seems to always lead back to another drunken episode. If one can break that cycle, the benefits really become clear.

Hi, Spartanman. You really can do this. You might want to start posting in the November 2016 thread, it's for newly sober people like yourself. It helps a lot to have people to share with who are going thru the same things you are.

Thanks Snazzy, will do !
