I've been trying
This week has been hard.
I'm scared to death. Last Sunday I had six beers, then 2 every day for the rest of the week and today 4.
I don't want to do it anymore. It doesn't make me feel better.
I just feel so bad and the scary thoughts are awful.
Please if someone could share how they got through the first few days?
I just need to know I will be okay. So pathetic I know. I just need some positive thoughts. Thank you

Early recovery is rough. I anticipated that my addiction would work against my rational mind that wanted to quit. I was determined not to drink. And didn't. I suffered though early recovery, but I had been suffering through my drinking. So I stuck with not drinking and suffering that way.
But if I had had any sense, I would have gone to my doctor and gotten something for the withdrawals.
Is that an option for you.

I made sure I started when I had a couple of days away from work and basically hunkered down for a few days.
This worked for me, but may not be possible for you.
I also made sure I had lots of sweet stuff in, after all, on top of the alcohol I was deproving my body of a lot of sugar it had gotten used to having.
You can do this, but are right to think through the first days - it is important to start though

I found that changing my routine in the early days helped a lot. When do you normally drink? Try to make plans to be doing something else at that time - exercising/walking/visiting a friend, anything that takes your min off drinking for a few minutes. You can get through this!
Yes, please do get medical help if things get bad.
To get thru the early days I stuck close to SR and posted and read like crazy. It helped my resolve to get such positive replies from the members here.

Welcome! I spent a lot of time reading and posting on here the first few days. I also planned out every minute of the time I would have normally spent drinking.
If you have any alcohol in the house get rid of it.
You can do this!
