Feeling thankful
Hi guys,
Not on this site nearly as much as I should be but life gets in the way and wanted to say hello. Still sober, my little boy is 18 months old and the absolute joy of my life. He's such a happy, carefree wee man who has been given the gift of a sober and present mother. I am so grateful to AA and this website for helping me when I couldn't even help myself.
I sometimes look back and think how did I manage this? There was a time when I couldn't see me ever being sober, life was just too bleak and miserable to muster up an ounce of strength to fight for myself but I'm so glad I did. Fighting for myself turned into me maintaining a life for my family.
We're expecting our 2nd baby next year, my relationships with my family and friends is the most honest its ever been. I no longer make apologies for myself - I was a drunk who struggled and has come out the other side. I'm actually proud of who I've became and throughout everything? That's been the best bit, not looking in the mirror and hating who I see stare back.
Sometimes your path in life takes a bit longer than you want but my god if you get a chance grab it.
