Big day at work, but need a new way to chill
I had a good day, but it was a lot of stress, I was the junior person presenting in a very senior group. Normally I would come home, have a glass of wine (with very good intentions to stop at 1 glass, not 1 bottle). But 10 days sober, not throwing it away. However, I'm so wound up, how do I deal?

Congrats on day 10!
And on already working again! I am only starting to get some easy every day tasks finished again and I'm on day 13...
What I find helps me relax in the evenings now (instead of a bottle of wine) is a hot shower or bath and then sit down with a nice cup of tea or a hot chocolate and watch some telly or just read here on SR.
Showering /bathing really does the trick for me. The physical sensation of the hot water on my body makes my mind relax and it feels like I'm rinsing off all of that day's stress, worries and problems. Also it marks the point of the day where I don't try to be productive any longer. Which the wine did for me too before. (Well before I started drinking in the mornings already...)

I finding reading, playing the guitar, riding my scooter, exercise...all those things help me relax.
It takes a little work to ;learn to relax sober....much more apparent work than just opening a bottle...
but it does get easier with practice

First of all, give yourself a pat on the back for doing that ... you did it, and you did it sober.
Secondly, remind yourself that achievements like those are part of why you got sober. And you're not going back down the booze road now just to throw it all away (as you yourself have said!).
Then relax ... just relax. Read, meditate, exercise, watch TV, read SR, surf the Internet etc. In a little time your adrenaline levels will even out and you will feel less wired. Then you can give yourself even more congratulations for not using the old alcoholic trick (which we ALL know) of rewarding yourself for some thing that is a reward in itself.
That's right ... a good sober life is its own reward
Well done ...!

I hope to be lucky enough to have a dog myself one day but now, still at university, I can't afford it sadly.
I'm on day 2 (again?), and currently writing in my plan book.
I had just got done with work, and going to the gymnastics facility to work on trampoline flips and ring handstands. Been a while. It'll be a fun way to get back into shape, and help detox. I did bleacher sprints before work, so I'm already tired, but amped up for some reason...

I've read that the best way to quell your stress depends on how you react to it.
If you react to stress with lots of action, like getting irritable, snapping at people, fidgeting, etc. then you should do something that calms your mind, like meditation or reading a book.
If you react to stress with INaction, where you freeze and withdraw into your head and shut down (the opposite of scenario 1), then you should do something active, like exercise, or call up a friend and chat, or pull some weeds out of the garden.
I'm very much the second type, which is why meditation or reading a book don't really help me when I'm stressed. Doing stuff really helps me relax.
