Congrats on 1 year, that's such an achievement! I hope to get there one day, too
I'm on day 13 and even though I experience a lot of support from my boyfriend (sober for 4 years) I think I couldn't have made it without SR.

Congratulations on one year, that is an incredible accomplishment! I loved reading about the many good things that have happened since you stopped drinking. You certainly have lots to celebrate!!!
Thank you everyone for your kind words, just confirmation of the wonder of this brilliant community.
If any lurkers are anxious about a life without booze, don't be - just go for it, the clarity that waits beyond the crutch of a glass is so dazzling you'll need Raybans.
It's like being re-born and getting another chance to lead a life we are all capable of.
The last year has probably been the best of my life, finally finishing a house renovation that's been ongoing for twenty years is testament to that.
I even met and got engaged to an amazing and beautifully spiritual woman a few months ago.
And when my step-daughter announced her own engagement recently and told me that I'd definitely be walking her down the isle, it made me appreciate my new life all the more. And considering her mum divorced me because of my drinking, that's quite a thing to say.
Can it get any better? Probably.
Thank you all again, I will not be drinking today.

Hi tufty, your story is amazing and truly inspiring. Congratulations!
The best of all is perhaps that what you achieved is within the grasp of all of us, albeit on different levels and in different ways. I would say it all comes down to being happy and at peace with ourselves, which leads to a satisfying and meaningful existence.
I will not forget how you were one of the first to welcome me to this sight.
I wish you well on your move and am glad that this does not mean that you are leaving us.
