So I just watched a powerful episode of Intervention
And it has just shaken me! There was a lady on there who had it all and lost a lot because she sat and drank vodka around the clock. I sat there thinking oh my gosh I don't want to be that!! And the truth is with alcohol that is exactly where it will take me wether it be a year from now or ten. I have been sober for 4 months (tomorrow) and can't be more grateful. I don't always feel grateful but seeing what it's like when we don't take care of this disease you can't help but feel gratitude. I love the saying "You reach bottom when you stop digging". Most people and even myself would say I haven't reached a low bottom but I have as long as I don't drink and keeping looking up and taking a step at a time. If you don't think your that bad, do you really want to try and prove that point? Not me!!

I watched a show like that a while back.....celebrity rehab, I believe....anyway, one of them said "I will always be an alcoholic, but I don't want to be a drunk"....for some reason that stuck with me. It is a good reminder for me to watch programs like those. Thanks for sharing, and congrats on four months!

From where I was four months ago it has definitely improved. Cant say every day is sunshine and rainbows but I'm liking the person I am becoming and so glad to have stepped off the roller coaster. I am really glad to hear you loving it. Me too!

Sounds like a great idea! I've watched plenty of episodes of intervention but this time since I have accepted I'm an alcoholic I viewed it thru new eyes. We all need those reminders from time to time.
