49 Weeks
I am at 49 weeks sober now.
I made it through a wedding this past Friday. I was mentally prepared, but what made it so hard was that the majority of the guests are friends from the local pub I used to go to. There were a lot of surprised faces and a lot of questions/compliments.
"Where have you been?"
"We have not seen you forever"
"Wow, you have dropped some weight!"
I was prepared for these questions. Some of the friends knew of my sobriety and some did not - but all were supportive. Had a talk with one of my good friends from there and explained it was not the people as much as it was the place that I needed to avoid.
I dearly miss some of the folks there but I can't put myself in a position that would allow my AV to resurface.
Plans were made to catch up over dinner in the future at a different venue.
Keep to your plans folks - we can do this!

Same goes IP - that was my take on it too that there had to be a total break made despite how much I miss some of the lads and the laughs we had - I say miss I should say missed - it's got much easier of late because I'm in a good place now and accepted where I am at / enjoying it more than anything and wouldn't want to go back to the old ways for anything.
Had a good drinking friend round last week with his newborn and 2 year old, good to see him away from the drinking side of things and catch up as I've not seen him since last October but it was my choice to make a complete break from everyone, it was necessary to succeed.
Feeling stronger than ever as we both approach a year and who knows in time I maybe able to meet up for a meal with a few of the lads - if not I'm happy where I am right now and sounds like you are very much of the same mind.
