Identity and 'how we got there/here has everything to do with our lives. Our recovery. Our authentic selves.
That makes it relevant to everything.
A lot of non-lgtbq people just never stop to see how their own gender identity and/or orientation is relevant in all areas of their lives. Because that is considered so 'normal'that it never needs thinking about. It just goes with you, openly, while seemingly being irrelevant. While not even being noticed as having anything to do with anything else.

lapis, if you are still around....to your original post.
There is likely an lgtbq meeting in Philadelphia, and if there isn't, you could seriously consider starting one.
Here in Vancouver we have several, and one even more specific to queer- and trans-identifying folk, where everyone and anyone is welcome, which has grown from about seven people a couple of years ago to well over thirty regular participants.
Identity in that way is, of course, not the focus of the meeting, but the relevance of who we are to everything else is simply accepted there as requiring no explanation, justification, hiding or anything else.
If you are not wanting to be open about this with a potential or actual sponsor, as you say there will be conflict with the honesty.
