Spooky Weekender Thread 27-31 October 2016
Confession i have never seen Ghostbusters. I have watched a few minutes here and there but I did not go and see on release (I am plenty old enough) and have not viewed any tv screenings. I have not heard many good reports about the 2016 reboot either
Thank you for the photos Sao. I think they add a very nice touch to the Halloween themed thread. I'm trying to get an image for some of my favorites but it'll have to wait.
Gilmer, I wouldn't stand for horrid coffee either so I don't blame you for stopping. It's worth it in the long run even if it added some time.
I am heading out of work. See you all on the other side of my commute.

I've arrived at the hotel. Apparently I've switched into central time.
I'm having more coffee, because our friends will have forgotten that we're actually an hour ahead--and ready to go to sleep when they think the night's still young!
Marty, I'm sorry you've had a bad day.

Oh yeah! Weekend started well! Album is mixed! Unfortunately had to write off one song but will replace with an acoustic one, a lot of rockers do that right?
Hoping to master the whole thing by Sunday night and then there ll be physical evidence of my first sober major achievement!
Have a nice evening everyone, it s way past bedtime here in the UK.

Thanks for great tunes, weekenders!
It certainly boosted my mood on the morning of a challenging day ahead.
Delizadee - so sorry about your horrible week. Hold on.

Thanks MB! Glad to see all aboard and hear things are going good for the weekend.
I took some of my angst and anger out by slaughtering a pumpkin tonight- my 4 year old's first time participating in pumpkin carving.
It was great.
Here's the idea:
The real thing is better, pictures possibly to come. Going to drizzle it with blood too.

Our host and his son came by the hotel to pick us up. We went first to the supermarket, where he bought eight gigantic ribeye steaks, two packages of bratwurst, and four pork chops 1 1/2" thick.
He picked up a few potatoes--but no green vegetables!
He spiced the steaks with a number of different things, two of which were Montreal and Chicago steak seasoning. There were more spices, but I can't remember what they were.
He rubbed an orange powder on the pork chops.
Because I have a relatively small stomach, I figured I'd have half a steak and maybe a brat. I'm not really big on pork chops, because I often find them leathery.
The steak was phenomenal and grilled to a perfect medium. Most flavorful ribeye I've ever had (the host chalked it up to the touch of Chicago steak seasoning).
I informed him that I was cutting it up into very tiny bites to stretch the taste nirvana out longer!
Then I ate a brat. Very good, but nothing I couldn't do myself.
By that point I was pretty stuffed--but my husband kept going on about how great the pork chops were.
He cut me off a bite to taste.
HOLY COW! It was even better than the steak!
"What's ON this?!"
The host smiled mysteriously and whipped out a Tupperware bowl.
It was a special South African meat rub called "Flippen Lekka"--which apparently is Afrikaans for "flipping great!"
I'll say!
It smelled a lot like Old Bay, but sweeter.
It didn't taste like Old Bay after it was grilled, though.
I can't describe it; it was just good!
Finally the lady of the house came home from visiting her daughter and new granddaughter.
We all had a terrific time bonding over the meal and laughing together.
Today we'll go to the hospital to see the baby and new mom and dad.
Then, guess what?
They will take us to the Antique Archaeology headquarters in Nashville (home of the American Pickers)! Apparently it is just 15 minutes from the hospital!
We are psyched!
