Just an update

Hi everyone. Been on here a bit but not posting too much, somehow I didn't feel qualified to give advice after relapsing. Truly a humbling experience.

Anyway I am doing much better. I saw a psychiatrist and got back on medication for bipolar disorder. I think my relapse was precipitated by a manic episode, after 6 plus months of sobriety. I was diagnosed years ago, but don't know if I ever really believed it. But looking back over my life, and some of the crazy things I've done, well, I believe it now. Guess I was self medicating with alcohol all those years. I feel much more even now, like a completely different person.

I know others have said it, but now I'll say it too: don't hesitate to seek treatment if you feel you may have a mental illness. And if anyone has any questions, feel free to PM me. Have a wonderful, sober day everybody!

Im happy that your back on track Zen , I used to enjoy your posts and will continue to so keep posting . Thanks also for the advice on mental illness which I do agree with . I'm getting episodes of moderate depression which lifts at certain times of the day but can hit me suddenly for no apparent reason well sometimes stupid reasons like burning a slice of toast can throw me into foul mood which is a complete over reaction .

Hi Zen. Thanks for the update. Glad you're back.

You know, if YOU have learned something from your relapse, then others can as well if yiu choose to share it. If everyone onky shared the jolly bits of the journey I know if have wondered why things only went wrong for me. It's important for us to hear about the pebbles and boulders that can trip us up on this road to recovery.

Thanks for posting.

Wishing you all the best for your recovery. BB

Of course, you are right. Probably hearing about the pebbles and boulders helps most of all. It's why I decided to post about my relapse. I really didn't want to, believe me. I wanted to just disappear and never post here again, lol. Thanks.

Well, I'm glad you didn't.

You pulled yourself back out of the vortex. No mean feat. Well done.
