I think it's amazing that you want to understand this field of mental health better and to help others in this struggle against issues with addiction. I too have rekindled an enjoyment for helping others and am planning my studies to gain a degree in psychology. It's nice to be comfortable in recovery but becoming lax and not moving forwards to a better lifestyle is often part of why some of us find it so difficult to stay sober.
Replacing a maladaptive lifestyle with one that works for you is definitely the way to go!

Learning new tools and skills to help ourselves and others is a goal that I had lost sight of when in the mire.
Congrats on your accumulating sober time and hope for insightful knowledge along your journey.

I think the more professionals out there with an intimate first hand knowledge of addiction - and recovery - the better

best wishes to you AdelineRose
