I let it go and let God last night

Twice last night I turned to God for help. Well actually just put trust in God to carry me through.
I had lots to do and was sitting around doing nothing. Whoa - asked God to give me some focus and that helped.
I was so close to drinking. Wanted so bad. Finally just said Hey God - I have to trust you will make it OK for me tonight without drinking. It worked.
Not exactly earthshaking news but it was important to me so I wanted to share a small success story.

I've gone to some meetings but haven't started the program.
Just have learned a lot from listening.

Sent from my iPhone using SoberRecovery

Clearlight, January... I also had a similar experience. Sobriety with no plan and no program basically sent me spiralling into suicidal depression more than once.

Even if we take small steps in the beginning, even if we take two forward and one back, what matters is we're taking action.
It is an important thing to us in recovery to let go of things and trust in something bigger than us to strengthen us through the difficult times.
Not everybody needs it. But those who do, when we find that connection, it can save our lives.

Well - I actually do have a plan. At this time it doesn't include doing the Program in AA.
That could change. I'm open to that.
There some stuff I don't agree with in the Big Book - particularly the opening to chapter 5 .
But I'm still open to the Program option. Just not pursuing it at the moment.

I'm glad you made it through CL.

I hope you'll think about a plan tho - I know I needed something besides just prayer and intercession.

you'll get out of your recovery what you put in

Thanks for the link Dee. And thanks to all for the posts.
I'm going to give AA a try - try and "work the program" as they say.
