Withdrawals

I hope this isn't a silly question but is a hangover a form of withdrawal?

I think so, but in my opinion alcoholism moves you past hangovers straight into withdrawal.
The difference for me was hangover meant feeling horrible, never wanting to see another drink.
Withdrawal meant wishing I had just one left so the awful feeling would go away.

Thanks MF that makes sense.
I never get horrendous hangovers anymore, just sort of feel rough and know a drink will make me feel better.

Kaily,

Great alky question. I googled it.

Hangover Contrasted With Withdrawal

A hangover is from too much booze.

Withdrawals are from not enough booze in a brain that has developed a need for booze to feel normal.

In my experience a hangover is a mild withdrawal. I used to be grateful when i only felt hungover. They were few and far between the withdrawals.
