There must some technological spirit playing tricks out there....

Yesterday at work my computer would shut down completely whenever I tried to print something. A dozen times it rebooted as I tried to determine the cause. Never figured it out. Decided to go paperless yesterday.

I am in for the weekend!!

Good morning and I'm in. Good reminder Dee.

Zanna, congrats on double digits. I think the small stuff is easier to handle with sobriety but conversely, I can't let it get to me because it's in letting the small stuff fester that causes me to entertain thoughts of drinking.

I always have to think ahead about how I'm going to handle the little and big things in life. Of course, the little things are easier to deal with if I'm not hung over and feeling tired and ill and anxious.

Train's arrived. I'll see you lovely people later.

I am sweating a lot of stuff. But I was 100 days yesterday - not breaking that over the weather.

That's a positive, LightningBug! Take care. It sounds very exciting but not in the happy "I'm having a birthday party!" kind of exciting.

It's raining here steadily and gently. My umbrella hasn't been blown inside out as is usual. Warm outside. Doesn't feel like fall at the moment.

I'm in. Concluded our mediation at 12:30 in the morning. Client meetings at 8 today. No rest for the wicked, I suppose.

Peace weekenders!

I'm in and I claim 31st in line for shotgun

Welcome to any newcomers

Thanks for the OP Dee, a timely reminder

I am going out to dinner with the boss tonight for what he calls a "strategy meeting." Firstly the term "meeting" implies I will have some input which is not the case. Secondly this is our 2nd busiest month after November and not the time to be having this "meeting" Lastly the reason he is taking me to dinner is because he does not want others to know about the meeting, I can't stand secrecy and stupid subterfuge so it better be for a good reason.

Hey ho, other people are having to face hurricanes so don't sweat the small stuff applies here too

Maybe you're getting a raise, sao (one can dream, right?)

Good lawd, am I friggin tired. Had two meetings with clients this morning, and I was NOT at the top of my game. You know those times when you're talking about something, and then you look around the room and realize that no one has the faintest clue about what you're talking about? Yeah. That was me all morning.

The thread is so slow, it is so disappointing

As predicted there was no real strategy discussed, just confirmation of things that he had already decided, we have expanded a bit from 32 to 37 people and I think he was just looking to satisfy himself that he was doing the right thing. I tried to be supportive without being a yes man. There was some talk of me getting a trainee but i'll believe it when I see it

Hello, Weekenders,

Am back from my conference. It was in Duluth, which for those who may not be as familiar with Midwestern geography, is located at the southwestern corner of Lake Superior and is a major port. The scenery really is pretty -- both the port, as well as the autumn leaves, which were peaking (or close to it) in that part of the state.

Business travel brings yet another reminder of how good it is to be sober. Though my work takes me out of town only infrequently, I remember how difficult it could be to limit myself to just two or three drinks when out and about with colleagues or peers. The voice inside my head always said "I want LOTS more!" Life is better.

U75/Das Boat, I'm sure you're going to be very glad to have this work week come to its end. Sao, good to know the meeting wasn't particularly dramatic.

Dee, thank you for the opener. Yours was a good reminder about what's important -- and that for which we should be grateful. Thank you!

A quick note of support to anyone who may be confronting Hurricane Matthew. This one certainly feels like the worst we've had in the U.S. in several years.

I hope all who are in the storm's path are safely evacuated.

In the Alcoholism forum, a fellow SRer has started a support thread for anyone dealing with Matthew. I thought that was a helpful idea; here is the link:

Thanks Venecia - my thoughts are still with everyone affected.

on a happier note I've been reminded it's Canadian Thanksgiving:
