52 Days Sober

Urges have not been a problem really. But, today a Tuesday night alone binge drinking seems like it would be nice.

So, I will say:

1.) The hangover would suck
2.) The anxiety would suck.
3.) The withdrawl symptoms aint gonna come back after 2-4 days. They will be back after 1 night I am sure.
4.) The regret would suck.
5.) Starting over would suck.

I wish I could turn off the want to drink switch sometimes.

Not really feeling the love here anymore. Do I need to move to a different forum thats not newcomers?

Hey, pretty quiet here huh. I think listing the negative consequences is a good way to fight it off. How about finding something to keep yourself occupied during these times so you don't have so much time to dwell on the urge.
52 days is awesome!

I don't think we can necessarily shut off the 'wanting' , but the important thing is what we do when it happens. For me , separating from the wanting to thoughts(what I call the AV) and then dismissing them and not acting on them , just like you described, seemed in time to decrease the frequency and urgency of the wanting to thoughts. Time just takes the time it takes , yes?
Keep starving that AV out, by not ever giving into Its demands and with time it will get smaller and smaller.
53 days is great , keep truckin, anything you can think you could plan to do on those near future Tues alone nights? Movie/book night ?

Congrats BD

Newcomers is a pretty busy forum - sometimes a post may slip through the cracks. It's nothing personal

You can try other forums here if you like but you may not find the volume of responses you'll get here in Newcomers (albeit in this case, a little late)

I'm over 90 days now and sometimes I still have thoughts to drink, and binge drink at that. Thinking of the consequences always help me. Is it worth it, no! Good job on 52 days. The best is yet to come

Yeah but you played the tape forward.

That's awesome. You didn't give in to that stupid little voice.

Congrats on another day

Congrats! Btw, my fear of withdrawal symptoms returning helps keep me honest as well.
