Another attempt at getting and staying sober
Another attempt at getting and staying sober
I am back here without drinking so far today. I had a good 10 days alcohol free about a month ago and found myself going back out to get more experience at drinking and the dreadful feelings it brings up for me.
I do not know if it is a disease but I do know it is an addiction for me.
I want out of this insane loop I keep doing.
Thanks for still being here.

I'm glad you're back to give it another go, asixstringnut. I, too, had to do further research before I was ready to go all in. We know what needs to happen - we can't touch the stuff. Sounds like you're ready now - we are here to support you.
I'm glad you're back too
what about making a definite recovery plan this time?

Welcome back to SR
For me, finding out what worked for me in staying sober was key. The initial stopping wasn't the hardest part - it was the staying stopped. This is a great place to be for support, posting every day helps immensely.

Welcome! This is a great place to find inspiration and support. I imagine that purty geetar will sound even better once you've sobered up! Stevie Ray Vaughan sounded so much better after sobriety that he inspired other musicians, including Bonnie Riatt, to sober up.
Thank you all for the Welcome back's and good advise. I guess getting a plan in place is a good idea.
I made it through yesterday day 1 and am started on day 2 today.
I feel a bit shaky and a bit out of it but I know this will pass.
Thank you all.

Hello Everyone.
I made it through day two. I will not say it was pretty but it was alcohol free.
I am so tired but I have been here before and know it will pass if I stay free of drinking.
So here I am on day three. I am going to clean my house, go to the dump, help a friend with some projects and not drink today.
I have been craving sweets because of the lack of sugar I am use to in all the drinking I have been doing. I bought a couple of chocolate bars and some good ice cream for the cravings and it helps.
Good luck to all of you out there who are on this path.
