Last night
Some people may know, I was a weekend warrior with a couple extended binges mixed in. The football season was a perfect excuse to dial it up. And a good dinner....even more so.
Yesterday I had to work for a few hours and asked my wife to splurge and buy a thick, juicy steak. So while watching some excellent college football games, I threw that steak and a couple italian sausages on. We sat down and had a great meal. All the triggers were present and yet it felt "right" to do what I did, the way I did. If that makes any sense.
It is a much simpler and rewarding way to live one's life.

I agree - simple pleasures are the best. Alcohol gives a certain pleasure, but in the quantity I was drinking, it dulls the senses, and even my appetite, I loved to grill a steak and the excitement was a reason to celebrate with drinks.
Life is SO much better without the alcohol, in countless ways.
Last night was 3 weeks since my last drink~

I agree, too. Much better that way. Good for you!
For me I find my entire experience (with whatever I am doing) to be more wholesome while sober, even if having some thoughts or cravings.

I guess the main reason I started a thread for last night's event was that after a year it is finally starting to feel normal to do ALL things sober and without the niggling in your ear that alcohol would make it just a little bit more enjoyable. It's just not true, it is very enjoyable just the way it is. That's the way I feel about it anyway.
