What are you doing instead of drinking?
I'm flying to a virtual reality conference tomorrow from Philly to Chicago and then back to Philly immediately after! Before I got sober travel seemed impossible and I rarely left the state. Now I do this kind of stuff all the time...
That's tomorrow, though. At this exact moment I'm grateful to be in bed watching murder mysteries and listening to the rain with my dog

Today I ended a long term drinking buddy relationship, paid some bills and took a 6 hour nap.
9 days sober and think that is about all I can handle.
I am inspired at how active everyone is.
Still don't have an appetite by that oreo cup looks tempting GreenVeg!
I really miss my kids... Lady Bug I got a little teary - wish I could spend 45 minutes with my girls.
No desire to drink - thankfully!

I am hiding from what I thought was a mouse in my kitchen. This ain't no Mickey. I can't guarantee that it really was a mouse I saw, but I am taking every precaution by barricading my bedroom door, leaving all the lights on, and surfing SR under the safety of my blanket.

Hey - I've been calling you Lady Bug - sorry! Fuzzy brain syndrome?
Anyone you know have a cat you can borrow?
Mighty mouse is probably more afraid than you are!

Truthfully though to the OP, today was a slug day. Kind of like when I used to be hung over. I woke up in a different time zone, flew across the country with a layover, leaving at 7 am, but had to get up at 3:30 to be on time.... So no sleep, grouchy, eating crap. Hadn't seen my poor girlfriend in weeks but am too tired to do anything with her. So she's at a bible study and I'm wrapped in a blanket on the couch despite taking a 2 hour nap earlier...
Green Vegan,
You said something earlier at about a Poetry Slam. Are you planning on doing it?
I don't even know what a Poetry Slam is but I'm open to trying new things.
What is it? (maybe I should ask that before agreeing to participate)
Snarly

Funny story, true too. When I got my first apartment in NY state I slowly moved in. Take over some boxes, be lazy, take over a few more. One night I walked in with a box, turned on a light and was shocked to see hundreds and hundreds of lady bugs on my ceiling. That is a lot of luck, right? I lost all that luck though when I got on a step stool and Hoovered those suckered down.
Apparently there is a Lady Bug season in NY. Who knew.
By the way, I put on some man shoes and ran through the kitchen. I am now outside safe and secure from the cheese eater.
In the first few weeks of sobriety (currently on day 46) I read a lot of books, bought a laptop so I could stay on SR and read other recovery related blogs, ate ice cream, etc. I'm still reading a lot. I have ordered a ton of recovery related books and just regular novels off Amazon. I still frequent this site. I listen to podcasts a lot. I do yoga. I still read blogs. Take hot epsom salt baths with candles lit. Drink hot tea while listening to jazz. Read Bible/journal often.
It's the little things that get me through the nights.

That Oreo ice cream looks amaaaaaazing!!! Oreo McFlurries with extra Oreo were always my go-to sad days food
Wrapping up day 61 here. I've redone my mother's home while she was out (I am an organizer/storage space optimizer extraordinaire) as a surprise for her birthday. Lots of exercise and sunshine more recently, and snuggling my kitties. My other half is off on business and he deserves the break, he was a champ putting up with my detox mood swings! I'm glad to be getting into healthy habits. I've even learned a new instrument to add to my collection!

Eating pumpkin pie ice cream. Has bits of pie in it. I love everything pumpkin spice -- candles, coffee, etc. Feeling grateful that it's no longer 95 degrees here and "fall" is in the air (86 degrees). Gonna be in the 50s tonight, woo hoo!
