I have mentioned that I am not really a big fan of the AA meeting here in my town, but it is the only one available to me so I am giving it a try despite it being a bit dysfunctional.
However, I reached out to the girl I like and asked her about the steps and sponsors. She said it is something that I need to take the initiative on and ask for. So I asked her directly if she would sponsor me and help me with the steps and she agreed! I am so happy.
I still don't care for the group so much but I am excited to get to work on the steps as so many of you have said this is the bulk of the program and what really helped.

Actually, I'm beyond happy and feel so grateful. I just can't believe that someone would do something so nice for me. I know people do this all the time, it is the program. But being on the receiving end of it is a really special feeling. I'm especially grateful because I know how busy this woman is. I hate to take up her time but she was very enthusiastic when she agreed.

Good to hear that Meraviglioso. The steps truly are a different sort of journey.

You might also consider starting another meeting in your area. Perhaps speak to your sponsor about the idea anyway. Seems like it might be very well received.
