Hello

New here to the site....trying to formulate a plan of action to deal with the anxiety attacks I'm having as I taper off alcohol

Hey Ozzygoat... I feel you on the anxiety attacks. I'm just on Day 1 and had a great morning but the anxiety is kicking in now. It's been ebbing and flowing but when it hits it hits hard.

I went outside on a walk and walked as long as I could, listening to speakers at AA meetings on my phone. I tried to just really be out in nature and take it all in - something I never do when drinking. Look up at the sky and trees as much as possible and when you feel the anxiety creeping up just remember to breathe deep and easy. Came home and made myself a sandwich (even though the last thing I felt like doing was eating) and drank some hot chamomile tea. The tea actually really seemed to help me, so maybe try that. A hot shower also helped.

Hang in there and stay strong. I believe in you!

Are you able to see a physician that may be able to provide you some medication? I understand how bad the anxiety can get. Hang in there, stay with SR. Good people here will help you.

Hi Ozzygoat

Tapering never really worked for me. Apart from anything else my anxiety never got better until some time after I was fully sober.

I've been sober a long time now but breathing exercises have really helped me.
