In February of this year I started a degree course - as it is distance learning it will take 6 years to complete.
The last module I took disappeared in an alcoholic cloud and the essay I submitted was only 2/3 of the length it should have been and not very good at all.
Somehow I scraped a pass - lowest possible mark for a pass.
I need to get my backside into gear and take advantage of the weeks before my next module to go back and learn it properly.
It's 32 years since I left school and I'm determined to die with a BA(Hons) after my name!

So imagine what you can do when your backside is in gear!
Education is a very worthwhile endeavour, whether one is 8, 18 or 80. Good on you for going back to university. Six years is not a long time in the scheme of things. I feel sure with the booze well and truly dumped, you will achieve your dream of a BA (Hons)!
Thank you all for your support. It was very much a 'ponder out loud' post but reading it though this morning has inspired me even more to dump the junk and pull out all the stops :-)
Archaeology and Ancient History. First module was a background to historical and modern archaeological techniques. The last module was Ancient Greek and Roman architecture.
I'm not 100% sure what the next module is - I had to make a choice between prehistoric or Egyptian for one module but I'm not sure if that is the next one.
It may be as back in May they asked for my choice so they probably needed to order the books.
I'm too old now to make a career in the field (more interested in the history than the archaeology side) though I quite fancy moving to a larger town and working or volunteering in a museum - but I would love to travel to places and understand things in more depths than the guide books go into

You can definitely do it and this is really inspiring to me.
I have been really busy at work and in my personal life but I have been wanting to study anthropology and ancient history for years.
I would not mind taking a couple of classes myself once things settle down

I've just had an email telling me the next module starts 3rd October and it is the one I've really been looking forward to, Roman History.
