Does sober recovery have meetings in Lansing Michigan?

Hi guys. I've been sober for almost 4 months now, but I'm struggling with my social life and would like to make some sober friends. I will do AA if I have to but would like an alternative. Does sober recovery host meetings, or would anyone like to meet for coffee? I'm in the Lansing Michigan area. Thanks.

Hi and welcome back butwhatsinaname :)

we're an online site, though - not a recovery method.

We do have chat room meetings here on recovery themes every Tues and Fri nights at 9 EST.

if you're looking for face to face meetings, it's probably best to go to website of the recovery method of your choice and look at the meeting schedules there :)

There's many different approaches and methods of recovery around - here's some links to some of the main meeting based players, including but not limited to AA:

We are like the 7'11, open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. No booze though. Some sober junkies stole it all and poured it down the gutter.

Actually it sounds like AA is exactly what you are wanting! A group of sober people to talk to and form friendships with. It works wonders and I would highly recommend it.

Thanks guys. Yes I probably should just attend AA but I have severe social anxiety that I think is hindering me. I'm also worried I won't know how to find the meeting once I am there and I can't ask people because it is anonymous. I'm not really a fan of all the doctrine, but it seems like the best bet to find a community I guess

If you see people outside the building smoking, that will almost certainly be where the meeting is. And I beleive you can ask others if there is an AA meeting in the building; that shouldn't be a breach of anonymity.
