Day 6 - I won!
I woke up this morning and decided to take control of my day.. No more allowing the symptoms, it was MY DAY.
I dusted off my hiking gear and headed for the mountains of North Wales. I managed to summit Mt Snowdon. It was a lot harder than it used to be in my Military days and took three times as long. I got there.
I was exhausted, tired, out of breath, aching..... but they were MY symptoms and not those of alcohol withdrawal.
Someone mention exercise on another post as a good therapy. They could not have been more right.
A small victory for me, the battle is long. I will win.

Stay sober and the withdrawals will clear eventually.
Exercise has been a great help for me, and I do all sorts of things from
hiking to yoga to running and weight lifting.
I suggest high-quality whole-food diet, with plenty of organic produce,
a good multi-vitamin, stay well-hydrated, and plenty of sleep / low stress
time. Your body and mind need healing time.
I also regularly meditate now--nothing formal, just time alone with my
thoughts and feelings which bubble up quite a bit since I quit.
I used to drink to drown them out. Now I welcome them.
Great job on that hike! I've always wanted to hike in Wales.
So beautiful. . .
