I'm back
So after a recent bender i've realized I need to completely abstaine. I've been abusing booze for 18 years and 2 years ago started abusing dexamphetamine.
My wife has had enough and so have my parents. Luckily they are sticking bye me so I will have valuable support.
I only had four beers yesterday to tapper so today will be my first no drinking day.
I had 4 days not drinking but that ended with a 3 day bender.
Wish me luck please.
Also are there and long term member thread I can visit?

Welcome back Sober
Most of the threads are grouped in terms of sober time, not SR membership time...but you'll be very welcome in The Class of September group (found in this forum)
http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...rt-1-a-15.html
You can of course also start any kind of thread that you want to
Have you given any thought to the nuts and bolts of how you might stay sober?

Definitely check out the Sep class! I have found my Feb class to be a great group of folks to get to know and learn from and with.
Now sounds like a perfect time for AA.
Don't drink - today. At the beginning, that is your only responsibility. Then develop your plan- it may not end up being AA but starting there, by going to a meeting, is a great start. And don't drink today.
Good luck- hope to see you around here.

Today will be my day one (again) as well, we can do this. I'm oddly grateful that I woke up with a head cold this morning, hopefully feeling this lousy will help deter the cravings after a stressful day at work. Wishing you the best.

Welcome back Sober32 you have my best wishes . Your right to start working out a plan and by staying away form pubs and clubs thats great start. Ive read on here " if nothing changes nothing changes" and another brilliant quote " if you want to stop drinking you need to stop drinking " .

Welcome and good luck. Luck is always nice to have I think most people get what the want by making plans and working towards a goal day by day.
Hopefully, we will see you around in the days, weeks, months to come.

I woke up with all sorts of dread this morning.
I canceled work. hopefully be ok to work tomorrow. My health is the most important thing atm.

This is a great link about plans.

If I have one piece of advice it's recovery needs effort and commitment - don't try and 'wing it'

Could you join us in the thread called
"occasionally I just like to count days sober - Pt 6"
It's nice to share with each other as we click off the sober days together.
Note
It's great that you still have family support.
I have known many who sober up but, the family has been left behind.
