7 Weeks Today!

Ding - Ding!

Today marks my 49th day day without drinking.

I started my journey into sobriety back in January '16. Although, I slipped a couple times. I have been alcohol free for a total of 6 months out of the past 9 months.

I want to tell newcomers that it can be done. When I think of taking a drink... I know in my heart that I am the only one that can control taking the first drink. But I will not have control over the 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 10th.... This is why, I am not drinking anymore or even trying to "moderate". Because, I know I will never be satisfied.

I quit for health reasons and I see improvements already.. I cannot stress to anyone reading this. That every aspect of my life and well being has improved due to NOT drinking. I cannot think of anything that drinking could do for me.

My sober muscles are building!

OK...... I know that this is a process and it is "One Day at a Time". But as I said earlier in this posting. I have control over taking the first drink.... so that is the most important thing for me to remember.

Have a great day........ !!!

Being sober feels good!

I had a busy weekend with an out of town wedding. I was able to make it through.

I was just thinking how great it feels not being hung over, guilty, embarrassed or worse!

I guess I will try to enjoy the feeling and share the good vibes....

Best wishes to all my SR friends.

"I cannot think of anything that drinking could do for me."

Neither can I! Well ok, it can give me a hangover, regrets, and a boatload of other trouble. No thanks!

Congratulations on 7 weeks!

Good going!

You are right- it is about choice. I think to myself often: "because I make good choices, I get to [ ]." Amazing when you think of that simple equation.

Keep going!
