Peace on Earth- a little happy news
For anyone who was following my post-rehab thread I spoke a lot about a Nigerian family I had been helping. We couldn't find anyone who would rent to them to get them out of their mold-filled home with live wires having everywhere and a hose used as a kitchen faucet so we decided to go in a re-do it ourselves. After much work we got the home in living condition just in time for the arrival of a new baby. I am happy to repost that little Peace was born this weekend, both mom and baby are doing great. The wonderful couple that got me into this activity were there with her the entire labor and delivery ensuring that she got the best care.
Helping them has been a great addition to supporting my sobriety.
I plan to go visit again on Monday with some nursing bras and long nightgowns and of course more diapers! They happy family is excited to return home to start life together!

Hi Italy, UK calling That was a beautiful post to wake up to Well done you! Really touching to think of how happy you have all made this family feel. What a gorgeous name they have called their newborn - Peace. We always say 'rest in peace' - how fantastic it would be, if we could all 'live in peace' too
Ben Fatto!
Ben Fatto!
I have NEVER found a situation where I did not receive far more than I ever gave. What a wonderful story of making this world a better place
The Starfish Story
A young man is walking along the ocean and sees a beach on which thousands and thousands of starfish have washed ashore. Further along he sees an old man, walking slowly and stooping often, picking up one starfish after another and tossing each one gently into the ocean.
“Why are you throwing starfish into the ocean?,” he asks.
“Because the sun is up and the tide is going out and if I don’t throw them further in they will die.”
“But, old man, don’t you realize there are miles and miles of beach and starfish all along it! You can’t possibly save them all, you can’t even save one-tenth of them. In fact, even if you work all day, your efforts won’t make any difference at all.”
The old man listened calmly and then bent down to pick up another starfish and threw it into the sea. “It made a difference to that one.”

Such a beautiful story, Mera - how wonderful of you to step up and help. Those people will never forget the kindness - and the hope they've been given. Welcome to the world, little Peace.
