40 Weeks

Forgot to post this yesterday, but I am at 40 weeks sober now.

Had a BBQ competition this past weekend. Didn't do as well as had hoped but had a great time. Also had a pretty surreal experience. Across from us was a team doing their first competition and they were partying it up. The more they drank, the louder they got. They carried on until at least 3 AM. The next morning they got up late, hungover and scrambling to get there entries done.....That was me last year.

It was nice to be in control, take in all the events, and talk to they other teams instead of focusing on drinking.

Keep to your plans folks, we can do this.

Congrats IronPhoenix, glad to hear you are doing well and reaping the benefits of being sober. It is always interesting to see others doing as we did and realizing how far off the rails we really were - and even more amazing to notice how oblivious to it they most likely were.

Congrats on your 40 weeks. I can't wait until I can say that. I'm only a little over a week in. When I had quit before I remember watching others partying at the pool or at a random event. It was actually kind of sad watching these folks get hammered and how clueless they were about how they were acting. I remember how aware I was of things around me and actually enjoyed being where I was and took in the atmosphere on a different level than before, instead of enjoying myself because there was booze and I was getting a major buzz.
