Scared

I want to be sober. I haven't for a great while. Today, I truly do. I've signed up here because I'm pretty sure I can't do it all alone. I'm not sure about face to face recovery at this time. Today, all I know is I want sobriety. I'm better sober and I know it.

Pretty scared all the same

Hey!! Welcome! You're not alone. Many here (myself included) who felt exactly the same way. You've made a great choice in joining here. Read around - especially the stickies @ the top of this page.

Best support here. Better than AA in my view. Bite the bullet. We all have.

Hi I'm in recovery once again I love my life so we have a great wife two amazing little girls a nice home good job should be happy but my anxiety and insomnia is killing me. I scared it's going to lead to using again. I just can't sleep it's defiantly a trigger to use because I no after a couple of nights and day using ill eventually get really tired and feel that feeling of only wanting to sleep with out thinking of anything else.

Welcome!

Hey nonblonde,

I've been on here (and sober) going on 4 days now. It's great... Everyone's right about finding support and community in these forums. I was scared, too -- I still am. There's something very unsettling about feeling out of control of yourself.

Welcome to SR, and I wish you the best with your sobriety.

You can do it, and it will feel amazing!

Exactly. Thank you...thank you all.
I want 4 days under my belt too. I want to get as far away from today as quickly as I can.

Have you seen a dr or checked out any of the stickies at the tops of the forums? Lots of great resources to be had here and you'll get lots of good advice and support.

Hi Zoonda - if you mean for detox I think everyone needs to check with a Dr. They'll decide whats most suitable for you based on your own circumstances.

after detox I'd direct you to the same threads I mentioned above as a start

Welcome nonblonde,
I'm guessing many of us were scared our first time here: boy I was!!
You can put one fear to rest: you will find whole-hearted acceptance here. We stand behind and beside one another, and we will be here for you too. So stick around, OK?

Welcome Nonblonde. I'm new here too. It has been a great experience take the time to check out the site and read. It really helped me relax during the first week of not drinking and I learned a lot which gives me confidence that I can do this as so many have. It really gives me hope and hopefully it can for you too.

Welcome to SR. I was scared about quitting too. I didn't know what my life would look like without alcohol in the picture. I couldn't live without it but couldn't live with it either. Like losing my best friend.

Turns out my life is pretty good without it. I couldn't do it alone though. I needed accountability and support. Meeting people here and in real life helped get me through early days and keeps me going.

Stick around. It isn't easy but it is worth it. I was here constantly reading and posting. Changing routines is hard. If you substitute healthy routines and keep at them, it gets to be second nature over time.

You can do this.
