I love sober Friday nights...

I love sober Friday nights because I know I will be fresh and hangover free in the morning making it possible to go for a run on Saturday morning...something I could never have done before.

Happy sober weekend people x

Thank you for the reminder Nova. Fridays can still be a bit rough for me and your encouragement was most appreciated

Sober weekends are the best. I get more done on a Saturday before 9 than I used to get done all weekend. Then I have time to go play outside!

Right on! Embrace the boredom!!!

Just being a wiseass. My mom always said if I was bored I just wasn't using my imagination. She was right.

I remember hearing alcoholics say things like this back when I was drinking. I thought they were full of it, just trying to convince themselves that their lives weren't lame. How boring! No drinking! What you going to do - do CHORES all day? Force yourself to play in a park? blah blah blah, chug chug chug.

Little did I know that *I* was the one in denial - alcoholic denial! Great thread. Nice to know I don't have to plan "recovery time" before I do anything tomorrow or Sunday.

I love being sober. The drinking lifestyle was pure ********..it was an illusion of fun.

I just spotted this thread....and smiled....YES!! Sober Friday nights are magic. One of the very best gifts of this entire journey...something about all of the associations that Friday nights had for me. It was party night....the night I went to see the bands I loved, drinking copious amounts, blacking out and driving home...

Those are the nights that evoke the most shame for me. How could I have done that, and over and over?

Now Friday nights are peaceful. I can do whatever I want, safely, and I remember it. And there is that fantastic bonus, as you said, of waking on Saturday morning feeling refreshed, relishing in all of the different things we can now do with the day.

I still can't classify myself as bright eyed and bushy tailed in the morning. But being sober still feels great on a Saturday

I don't know how I managed to drink a bottle of wine on Friday nights and consider it "relaxing" - geez. I'm always so freaking tired from the work week that by Friday night, true sober rest is something I genuinely look foward to!!!

When drinking I couldn't sleep in. I was up in the wee hours and restless. After working ten hours a day I really needed my sleep on the weekends to rest. Now I sleep in way later. It does feel awesome!!
