Smart Recovery Meeting by my work!
I am so excited! There is a Smart Recovery Meeting near work every Wed at 6:30!
Has anyone ever been to one? What can I expect?

Never did a SMART meeting, none available in my region. There are some good threads on SMART in the Secular Recovery forums.

Fripfrop is a SMART lady, and also very, very friendly and approachable. Could ask her... http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...ml#post6084110
Hi earth! I have been to one only, it didn't work with my schedule tho. Since I was new, most of the time was spent on how they are different from AA (not better, just different) I did buy the manual which is really good!

Hi earth,
Speak of the devil Berry and she will appear
I have just so happens been to a Smart meeting this afternoon.
Smart is a self management programme, so what we do there, is get help on using any of the Smart tools we are having trouble with in our day to day lives.
Ours is set in a conference room, and we all sit around the conference table, and of course the ever ready flip chart is there.
Most of us use Smart online, and there is a free toolbox on there and the basics of using the tools.
The facillitator will begin by going around the table, asking how we have been doing since the last time and what, if anything we have been having trouble with.
Then, he will ask which tool/tools we would like to work on for that session, and we generally agree pretty quickly, and do the exercise as a group.
Tonight we did conquering LFT (low frustration tolerance).
Which is a stress relieving tool.
We also did a short motivation maintence exercise.
This is just what my group does, but I hope it will shed a little light.
Good luck Earth
Berry, can you write me a job reference please?

Thank you! Can't wait to go tomorrow.
I really like smart I was at my meeting last night 16 of us, the cross talk is great so much different than AA where there is one topic and you might not want to share on that topic so you pass and do not share, anyways whatever works I use both but I get more out of Smart Recovery
