10 months today..

Not drinking is probably the hardest thing i've done because everything fun in the adult world is associated with drinking, unless you find your joys in other sober activities, but I don't, none of that is interesting to me...which makes sobriety so difficult, I'm sure a lot of others feel this way too.

I check these forums at least once a day and it definitely helps. I see people with all sorts of accumulated sobriety time come back and write about how they've relapsed, and honestly, it's those threads that make me not want to drink, because reading their posts I can see how bad they feel, how much they end up regretting that decision. Because I know that feeling too.

Mentally, my emotional state has done a complete 180 degree turn; this also is a deterrent after realizing how badly booze affects the brain in the long run...But I'd be lying if I said I haven't been romanticizing an ice cold mini keg of shock top, but what's the point, every time I drank, I drank to the point I got sick and couldn't physically keep the booze down.

Not drinking is really difficult, and I feel bad for anyone starting out who is deeply ingrained with alcohol or other addictions because I know their road to recovery, especially the initial months, are emotionally painful, lol. But time goes by quickly, so if you decide to quit, just do yourself a favor and ACE it on the first try.

Congrats on 10 months!! I am just over seven months now and have found lots of things I enjoy doing sober: exercise, reading, plans with my kids...
