Thank you purple, have been doing well today then was just hit by a crushing wave of sadness and disbelief. I know this will pass and I refuse to drink on it, that will just lead me to more pain and more sadness and that won't benefit me in any way. I must stay strong and oneday move on. Elle

I just had the time to read through this entire post, and I love the shift in your perspective after your meeting.

You deserve love and happiness, and letting go of an abusive relationship and remaining sober are two incredible gifts you are giving to yourself.

Thank you Delilah, I am so very happy that I got through this last week... I am still not at the better off without him point (gahhh) but I know that that will come.
That is why I am determined to stay sober, to begin to love myself and embrace the life we all deserve. We may have this illness but we are not bad people, just people who have had difficulty coping with life.
I never want to go back to that hideous place of self loathing again, sitting in a darkened room bottle of wine in one hand and sleeping pills in the other..... Never again.

From experience, no matter what they did to us, the 'better off without them' feeling takes a while....it did for me. Huge hugs girl.
