What was your poison?

Reading through the posts it seems that most Americans liked their vodka. I always thought that was a Russian speciality.

I started with beer and Souvignon Blanc and ended with Black &White whiskey until the blackouts erased the last bit of white light.

Amazing how I now enjoy lime and soda.

We all can change. It is so possible.

I drank white zinfandel. When I was done with it and sufficiently drunk, I drank the rest of my husband's beer when he wasn't looking. I don't even like beer. It tastes like what I imagine a dirty gym sock would taste like. Just thinking about it makes me gag. I did all my drinking at home but when we were blessed to actually have a sitter so we could go out, I loved a good Long Island Iced Tea.

Beer and bourbon for me. It was shocking how fast I could go through a case of tall boys s or a liter. Now it's Diet Pepsi disappearing at an alarming rate.

Vodka. A 5th of the cheap 40 proof. Could never pace myself with top shelf.

Now it is tons of flavored water (berries, cucumber, herbs, lemon, lime), sun brewed herbal teas during the day and a kava kava , white tea or chamomile @ night.

Mine was always gin and tonic at first but then it escalated to pretty much anything I could get my hands on. I remember having to fill my mouth with saliva and take deep breaths before I drank some of it because it tasted so bad.

Bourbon man for 48 years. Never was a heavy drinker but enjoyed 5 or 6 drinks every day...every day.

I'm with Sober Wolf, don't even want to think about the muck that could have killed me, why would you want to?
Do you work for some brewing company?

red wine. Sometimes for extra fun I'd indulge in what I nicknamed "suicide bourbon". Good times (ugh).

A bottle of vodka a night 750ml is STILL my poison, sometimes with starters of lager or wine.
Just managed two days sober which is a very big deal for me, slight withdrawals but not to bad.
Today I got overtired working and am drinking again.. Rewarding and Relaxing myself but also hating my lack of resolve.
Each sober time I think I have made it, what a fool!

My poison is my fear. White wine (Sauvignon Blanc too) was a relatively brief, but devastating, response to it.

I would like to be done with obsessions-as-coping devices. Maybe I can find some healthy obsessions again.

Pretty much anything minus wine or gin as I hated the taste, but if that was all that was around, that's all going down too.
I think vodka is popular in the US mainly because it's the cheapest. I'm pretty sure Skol is bought by no one by alcoholics.

Mostly beer.

But also scotch, bourbon, and to a much lesser extent, wine. Never been a big wine drinker as a stand alone drink, it was always to accompany food.

Beer for me. Rolling rock was my favorite. "From the glass lined tanks of old Latrobe." But I would drink anything if I came across it. Gin and tonics, screwdrivers, you name it.

Vodka, wine, beer...but after a certain point mostly anything. It's so gross to remember some of the things I mixed. Thanks for the awful reminder, I needed it (seriously).

Beer followed by rum and coke. What a mess for WAY too long! Good decaf coffee, Powerade, water and an occasional diet soda now.
