30+ Days and feeling vulnerable

I have a little over a month and I just had a major surgery. I was prescribed Tramadol for the pain for the past two and half weeks and I took the last one tonight. I am worried that I won't be able to sleep and of course the pain, I'm also running a small fever and not feeling so well. My AV is really kicking in, I know I'm finding excuses for just one drink. Ugh! It doesn't help that I'm home alone and extremely lonely. I really don't want to go through the withdrawals again. Drinking again could land me in the hospital, jail or worse. I have been surfing SR for the past few hours and it had been a great reminder that my consequences would be huge.

One of my friends always says that HALT (Hunger-Anger-Lonely-Tired ) should be HALTI (Hunger-Anger-Lonely-Tired-Ill ). Reckon she's probably right. Feeling poorly can also trigger a big case of poor-me's (Well it does on me anyway), and there's nothing my AV likes better than a good dose of self-pity to work with.

Dr Berrybean prescribes regular Gratitude list,s and doing everything possible to keep all to those other HALT triggers at bay while you're poorly. (Those triggers are most dangerous when they're out in force and thee are 2 or 3 of them rattling us).

Are you able to exercise at all? Walk, park, beach, swim centre....I know exercise and being outside for a few hours every day help me obtain a good sleep. Wishing you the best

Charlie,

Any booze will not help. It will hurt. Drops the immune system.

Yogurt helps natural internal healing. Also fresh fruit and lots of water.

Sleep is key to healing.

I know it can be hard to sleep when you are in pain though.

It can be a nightmare.

1 hour of sober sleep is better than 12 drunken hours od sleep.

We are here for you.
