Hello

I'm new here, I just joined yesterday. I had been sober, on my own for 8 months. We had a family tragedy in June and I've been drinking for two months. An event that happened wednesday made me realize it's time to get sober again and have supports to help me stay that way.

I'm just tired, tired of using the crutch of alcohol. Tired of thinking about it, tired of trying to moderate it. I feel like I'm a mess and need some tools.

Thanks

Hi and welcome. I am sorry for your loss. Here is a big hug for you and a promise that you are not alone. You know what I find comforting during a relapse? Talking about it. Giving yourself the freedom to express how you are feeling with people who have been down that road, who picked themselves up from the pit of regret and despair, and who moved back to the right direction with an understanding of what went wrong and a commitment to not make the same mistake again.

Are you in AA? Do you have a support system?

Warm welcome gwg.
I can relate, I too (not so very long ago) was "tired of thinking about it, or trying to moderate", getting nowhere and going back to thinking when I could get away with starting drinking for the day. It had become the centre of my life. Madness! Let's ditch this madness for good.
8 months sober on your own is brilliant, you have the strength to make it stick this time.
Good luck
xx
