Day 4 and Feeling Human Again

My first update was on Day 2. Thank you for all the helpful and kind comments, they meant a lot to me.

I felt mostly functional on Day 3. I ate normal meals, drank lots of water, and was semi-productive. I still felt tired, and sleeping the night before was sufficient but not completely restful.

Today is Day 4. Last night brought the best sleep I've had in a long, long time. I gently awoke a few times but I could feel the REM cycles taking place. I also got back to taking my meds at night (something I don't do while drinking), so I'm sure that helped me as well. I got up in the morning, had a cup of coffee, and prepared for the day.

Today I went for a good, long run. Despite the cool, cloudy, and rainy weather, I was sweating an ungodly amount, which probably means that my body is purging itself. Also, my digestive system is still in a bit of a funk, so maybe it just needs some time without being destroyed by booze to get back to normal.

I have some early plans laid out:

-Look for "Double Trouble" and other dual recovery resources (shout out to shirlygirly for the info)
-Get back to running at least 4-5x/week and identify upcoming races that I want to participate in
-Get back to taking my meds every night
-Make doctor and counselor appointments

Also, I think there's a lot of deeper personal work to be done on myself, because I might be filling a deep void with alcohol and not addressing it. I don't know exactly what that void is yet, but I've abused myself enough to know that all the drinks in the world won't heal.

Lot of love to you all, and I wish you wellness and sobriety.

I forgot to mention there are a few lingering memory problems. (Oh, the cruel irony.) I hope those begin to fade away soon too.
