Sorry but the article title makes no sense. All the reason why she was an alcoholic. I know she is trying to play with words with lucky and alcoholic but the title of the article needs to be different to reflect on article.

these are great..... I often feel like I'm actually "blessed" by addiction.

Because without it, I'd never have quit drinking, and I'd be cruising along still - at some level numbing out life, consuming empty calories, stunting my personal growth and living life at some level less than fully and less than fully present.

I get it, and it's this insight and perspective that made it easier and more rewarding to embrace sobriety.

I'm confused by your comment.... it seem to me exactly what the title says. She lists all the reasons she feels fortunate that she is an alcoholic.... all the positive that has come from accepting her addiction and moving beyond it.

Makes perfect sense to me.

That's ok if it makes no sense to you that's your opinion of which of course your entitled

I post this knowing not everyone will agree with it & that's ok but I know some will & that's also ok my friend

I think she is saying that thanks to becoming an alcoholic she can now see the pleasures of sobriety without taking them for granted

yeah, it might have been better if she said"alcoholic in recovery"
but i personally dont care. i relate to what she wrote.

maybe send your concerns to her on what NEEDS to be done?

Thanks for posting, I enjoyed the article. I totally get what she is saying. Although I would obviously rather not be alcoholic (or alcohol abuser, recovering, former drinker, whatever you want to call it) I do feel sometimes that *we* have a greater appreciation for the types of things that the author mentioned. After all, we know what it's like NOT to have them. That's my take, anyway. Thanks again ☺

I can think of one more.

I'm lucky to be an alcoholic because all of my social time with friends is real. The words that come out of my mouth, my actions, and my thoughts are all me. Where I used to think that I needed alcohol to have fun I've discovered that it was the alcohol that was keeping me from having fun in the real sense.

Good read it reminds of why I want this more then anything .

I like this article too. I have always thought that alcoholism is a good problem to have - because we know the solution - in simple terms, don't drink. Of course there is much more to it, but a problem with a solution is the best kind of problem to have, no?!

When I first read this title I thought "that's the stupidest thing I've ever seen" after all I wouldn't wish alcoholism on my worst enemy, however if I weren't a problem drinker I'd still be drinking and annoying, putting my body through hell,even moderate drinkers make a fool of themselves sometimes, or get health problems from drinking, or get DUIS, so yeah I'm glad I know and am taking care of the problem
