First time on site

I'm still considered a "beginner" by some though I have a little over 2 1/2 years of sobriety. It has been more of a struggle than I anticipated. Putting down the bottle was way easier than now having to face my life. It's a lot of work sometimes, and sometimes I have to remind myself that there's no situation a drink won't make worse. But I'm holding on.

Welcome JH, you are so right. Drinking helps nothing. Just keep going, you're doing great!

Hi JH, and welcome to the forums!

I have about the same time sober myself. I agree, sometimes the challenge of real life is mind-blowing. I try not to think about it LOL -- just grateful to be alive and partly sane!

Is there anything in particular you want to talk about?

I don't think you're a beginner with 2 1/2 years sober, but I agree with you that there is always a lot to learn. Recovery is a journey.

I dont consider you a beginner. I'm on day 1. Its scary to think I might still be struggling after 2 1/2 years.

Welcome to the family. You're not a beginner in sobriety. I hope we can offer support and friendship along the way.

Welcome.

With 4 years I prefer the term "back half of early recovery".
