Opportunistic S.O.B
Wife's out of town so I'm home alone. Hot day and had to go to the hardware store which is right by the liquor store. My AV made a valiant attempt. "Who's going to know" . It's so strange how convincing it is. Played it forward and shook it off. Didn't last very long but I'm going to need to be careful this week. Three weeks sober today. No way I'm going back. I love this. Just wanted to write it out so thanks for reading.
Hi Mattq2. Great news you were able to play the tape to the end, I did that often and it helped me not pick up!
You can do this week sober! Keep busy, don't have booze in the house if you can help it and have lots of alternatives....mine was ice cream.
Congratulations on 3 weeks sober!

Great job today! I try to always remember that if I take that step and pick up that drink, I'm going to know whether anyone else is there to see it or not! And I'm the last person who wants to disappoint ME! Keep it up!!

Yeah I've quit because my family or others gave me grief. I never stayed sober. You HAVE to do it for you. Still, with the wife gone all week I'm going to be here a bunch . Hope everyone had a great weekend

I'm fresh on the journey to sobriety so I'm not an expert, but I do work alone in my business/office (and the liquor store is 30 seconds down the street from my office). That's always where the first drink happened for me because who would ever know??? When I realized that I needed extra support I asked a few close friends to do random check ins at my shop for the first little bit until I'm over the initial hump. Knowing that someone might stop in and grill me or snoop around my office helps me to stay in check. I know it's not a long term solution, but it's part of my current plan. Maybe if you have friends/family they know your struggles you could try something similar this week?
