One year without a drink
I hit one year this week and it felt good. This website has been a big help to scroll through and read other people's troubles/victories. So a few quick things I've learned:
You have to want it yourself, not for anyone else or you are forced into it. I went to ER from first try quitting(w/ds). started drinking again. Went to an IOP after a lost job and intervention. Started again. Inpatient rehab. started again a bit. Stopped on my own because it was getting old and I wanted it more than a drink.
Things change but it takes time. This winter was miserable but I was slowly started incorporating things that are now a part of my life: rebuilding relationships, better money and job situation, meditate and exersize daily, Smart Meetings, therapy and the right meds for ADHD and depression anxiety I've always had. I even told a few people at my work I am sober just this week...I had kept that to myself.
The exersize for me especially helped with feeling comfortable mentally and physically, the same result I was looking for when I drank I got from a nice long outdoor run or bike.
Things add up. It takes work but results come. It's not always perfect but the slow changes add up into a better life. Give it time. and work for it.
Still have a lot to work on, getting out of my comfort zone, moving out of my Mom's house (although I am helping her out...the roles have changed...she took me to the ER).
Hope you all have a great sober weekend

Nice job phlowing!
It's really important to underscore what you said about quitting. It has to be for yourself. That's when true sobriety kicks in. And when that happens, others can benefit from you.
You sound like you doing really well. Keep it up!
