It's Never Too Late Weekender July 22 Part 1
I have spent a fair amount of time in the past few days dwelling on regrets. I need to quit that and move forward. I was feeling pretty bad about myself for things I can't change, because they are in the past. It's pointless and can be dangerous to my sobriety. It makes me unable to enjoy the good things that ARE happening right now. So I'll be working on that today.
I could use that lunch today, Brain. I'm giving blood today after work. I need to make sure I eat better leading up to that than I usually do. I tend to not eat much during the day.
I just went to facebook to look for something specific and got sucked in for a half hour. I can't go there until after this dang election is over. So much hateful stuff out there, friends attacking friends for their opinions and political preferences. This is what is wrong with the world. It made me very sad.
Just caught up. Thanks for the inspiring words to get us going this weekend, Ken.
Melina, congratulations! I hope the new gig leads to great things.
Brain--I've had similar piles in my driveway each of the past two years (plus three pallets of sod for good measure last summer). You have my sympathy.
This weekend is going to be a bit more of a challenge for me than usual. I'm traveling for business all day Sunday, with meetings all next week in a different state. Normally, my first stop after security would be to sit at the airport bar and have a few Sam Adams' before my flight. I'd also usually have a few beers with dinner to "relax" at the end of each day of stressful meetings. I plan on bringing work, music, movies books and snacks for the airport, and a whole bunch of clothes for running while I'm away, to keep me away from the bar. Of course, I'll also have SR ready to go whenever I can get a connection!

LadyBlue, congratulations to your daughter on four years and her certificate. That's stupendous. She gave good advice.
Marty, maybe we could have a pact to work on gratitude. I've been regretting the past and feeling sorry for myself. I snarl at the kids. What memories of Mom they'll have when I am gone. Guilt guilt guilt sneaking in there too.

That's great about your daughter LadyBlue.
So profound, Ken.
I spend a lot of time shutting up that voice. It's the voice of mal-intent.
I'm going to spare you all the long story that ends in a million baby spiders inside my bedroom this morning. Suffice to say, mama spiders seem to think a warm south facing window is a great place to incubate/build nests.
I think I'll be living in a motel for the next month.
(thankfully they were still incubating, so they didn't scurry when I broke their nest, accidentally...the nest was golf-ball size! I didn't even see it.)
