It's Never Too Late Weekender July 22 Part 1
Almost forgot - WATER GUN!
Already put a load of laundry in the ma-cheen. Gotta check weather one more time as I thought of erecting a big shade tarp today. And get the spray bottle out that I used when hiking in the grand canyon, maybe set up a fan outside. Serious business today. I need to bring out the inner Mexican worker in myself and get a lot done in the stifling heat today.
Guess I should water the garden early too. And make sure the wheelbarrow is pumped up and ready to go...

My news for the day: My daughter is over 4 years sober from opiates. She just passed her CADC (Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor) exam and has an interview today at a local shelter as a caseworker. So proud! She's one of my greatest sources of strength in sobriety.
After I relapsed when I got sober again I asked her how she did it. How she had been sober for as long as she had. She admitted to me that there had been stressful times where it was tough but she said that you have to understand at all times that using is not an option. Under no circumstance.
Have a great weekend everyone, I'm trying hard to keep up

thanks for sharing that success LadyBlue - awesome.
let's see, I did a few things to get ready for the nine (9) o'clock delivery, hung a load of wash on the line, set up a few things, decided to make coffee and breakfast... I just took my oats out of the microwave when the doorbell rings...
at oh-seven-twenty! I gotta say, 2 yards is a lot of stone
so my plans are set for the weekend...

black coffee and fuel for the Brain...
I have a hunch I'll be taking frequent breaks today...
This kind of thing would not be happening if I was still drinking. Up early and ready to work... AND, at the end of the day, I feel good - after a soapy shower of course.

Morning all--I'm in but still a bit bleary after a tough hot yoga class yesterday.
Over 100 degrees and very humid. . .
But, I can put my hands under my feet with straight legs, if I could just find
a useful reason to do so
Slow and steady Brain, with lots of breaks. . .
I've got to do driveway rock too this year. . . oh joy
Great intro Ken--I lost a lot of childhood /adulthood too unfairly,
but you are right, life is still full and rich should we choose to make it so.

Good morning everyone. Thank you Weas for the intro. I finally sobered up after spending all of my late 30s and most of my 40s in a drunken stupor. I still sometimes mourn the wasted time but there's no sense in that since I can't get a do over.
One of my co workers was going to a "hot" exercise class. I suggested that she run around outside instead for free. Because it's going to be just that hot today.
Yay Hawkeye on your flexibility. It feels good, doesn't it?
Time to roll.

I'm on board!
Ken, I love the "Life in progress" part. So hopeful and positive! We've got no time to wait, our lives are happening NOW and how awesome it is to be sober and present for ourselves and the people we love!
Congrats GS on 15 months!! Woot!
Xo

Good morning eveyone!
I'm in.
Thanks ken. I need o be reminded that my life is in progress. No sense dwelling on the wasted years and the mess I made of my younger years. I may be old, but I'm sober and doing the best I can. I strive everyday to do the right thing.
congratulations GS on a year and 3 months! Awesome accomplishment.
Brain...the pile of gravel makes me feel tired just looking at it...but the oats look good.
ok...better get out for a walk. I hope everyone has a great day!

glad to see some newer faces already... I was so hyped up to get to work I almost forgot my main duty --------- feed the wife and post a pic of her lunch for MLD
I used that purple pepper and garden onions with garlic and oregano to cook up the squash - just the right amount of 'bite back' in the squash...
here you go Marty - okay, time to get started outside...

Not enough time to catch up but i read your great intro Ken, thank you. It's definitely never too late, if I won the lottery now I wouldn't think "too late to enjoy it"
