Cravings made an appearance
Cravings made an appearance
Day 3, feel healthy as usual by this time and the cravings are already whispering in the back of my head. Shut up already! haha I keep telling myself one more drop and you'll soon be dead. Just needed to vent, going to stay in the house the next few days until they subside. May go camping up north (live in ontario, canada) and go camping with nothing but a tent, a good book and 0 temptation. Thanks for the read!
Day 3 here as well and definitely hear you on the cravings...
Your plan of camping with a good book sounds MARVELOUS! I would give anything to do that right now.
Definitely go with that plan...0 temptation is awesome.
Hang in there, as I'm sure you know the cravings will pass...just surf that urge

Loads of people backslide on Day 3 because they are feeling better and forget the pain of the hangover/withdrawal. And they think - oh, I'll just have one or I've been good for 3 days I deserve a reward.
It is important to have a plan to distract yourself from drinking. Lots of different plans. Camping sounds great. Bring lots of yummy food with you so that instead of grabbing a case of beer to sip you can eat to help curb cravings. I recommend ice cream and chocolate.
Don't let your addiction talk you into drinking.

Not sure if you know HALT (Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired), but I always ask myself if I am any of those first and eliminate them as soon as possible if they are. They can all be triggers.
Second, whatever it takes to distract myself. Lately that has been reading on here or other recovery related materials or watching something mindless on tv.
Thirdly, if you have someone you can talk to...it always helps me to talk it out...even if you're not talking about recovery...it can be about anything, but if its for long enough the urge will usually pass.
Hope this helps...Hang in there!
