Late night start to Day 2

Had a bad dream, restless and can't sleep. Half bottle hammered the other day was just not worth the few days it takes getting back to normal. Someone asked why do I post after I make a mistake, it's a good question.

I will try my best to enjoy the rest of the summer clear without another lapse in judgement. First milestone is August 31st, will take it from there.

As tough as it was, I chucked the remaining; a powerful temptation otherwise.

It helped when I realized that alcohol was no kind of a reward at all. Ultimately it was self harm/abuse. Good job on tossing the booze.

Glad to hear it. Any idea what may have triggered you to drink?

In reference to your earlier post, I think posting after you've made a mistake is the best thing you can do! It shows that you truly do want to recover and you're taking steps towards that.

Well done on tipping it away Endeavour (not easy)

It is good that you posted straight after a slip up rather than disappearing off the site. Posting before you pick up is even better as people can talk (well, write) you through the urge to drink

Good luck

I agree that it's good to talk about a slip. Most everyone here has had them. Glad you are making progress - we know how hard these first few days are. You're so right - it's just not worth it anymore. It takes a terrible toll. You can do this!

You know what it is, the first few days after one my of stupidity sessions; I find it's better to stop counting. It seems easier on my mind to not think about it day to day like climbing a ladder.

I do think having record, in this case "Day 2" the post title, is good idea to reference my last mistake. That's just me, I'm sure everyone has their own method that works for them.

Thanks for the words all, doing well. Drinking lots of water and even hit the bike yesterday for 8 miles. Little sore today, but I'll take good pain over a dehydrated booze beating any (or most) days.

Working on that.
