And I've hear many people say that they were totally relieved of the desire for alcohol, usually through a spiritual approach.
Just get through today and see what happens for you. It may be that right around the corner, even tomorrow!, you will begin becoming very happy with not drinking. The thought may come, but if you make a plan to get through it, it will pass and you will be filled with gratitude that you made it through. Then, the next time will be easier.
It's worth re-quoting:

Everyone morning I wake up after not drinking, and I never regret that I didn't drink the night before. This is 100% true 100% of the time.

Not only does it get easier, but we can get a LOT better.

The way I think and feel is dramatically different to how I was when I was using, and from early recovery, and even from a year.

I'm able to handle life, and i can survive my own emotions. I'm OK with being me.

Life stays the same, but our reaction to it changes.

This takes time, and some effort and perseverance on our part, but to say that this is worth it would be a dramatic understatement.
