Finding Thumbelina I hope nobody will mind if I start a thread where I can check in every so often to keep myself on track. Day 3 nearly over. It has been quite difficult with the weather being amazingly hot today. All that's been on my mind is a cool glass of wine after work. The thought is still lingering around but I won't be drinking tonight. |
Congratulations on getting through Day 3! |

Good idea |
I feel the same way something about this hot weather and a cold glass of white wine but I am always happy to wake up sober the next day!!! pray for cool weather!! |
Keep posting, Thumbelina. You are doing great. We are pulling for you. :grouphug: |
Day 4 and I'm so exhausted. Trying hard to stay awake at work as I type this. I'm too tired to even think about drinking... |
Thumbelina, a thread has been so important to me this time around. Day 4 is huge and don't forget it! Remember, there is no judgement here, laying out all of you thoughts and feelings is very helpful, like being the star speaker every day. We're here for you! I find that flavored soda water cures my craving for something cold and bubbly. I go through a couple of cases each week. So much better than the alternative. |
Day 5 coming to an end and not a drop of wine in sight. It did cross my mind a few times today - just how nice it would be to go home and have a drink. Thankfully, I've managed to keep myself distracted. I've been feeling super tired. Suppose, without the buzz of wine my body has gone into some sort of rest mode. Other than that my head is still quite foggy but it's so nice waking up without the nasty hangover. |
Your post made my day, Thumbelina. Congratulations on Day 5. The urges to drink will continue, but they will start to become fewer and less intense. As long as you are prepared to deal with them, you will be just fine. I can't wait to hear from you once you have that first week under your belt. :supernan |
Hi Thumbelina. I'm in the uk too and our weather has been so muggy, it's exhausting and can easily dehydrate. I know when you first stop all we think about is drinking, but it does pass, give it time and if you don't take that first drink it will get easier. Congratulations on day 5. :c011: |
Great going Thumbelina :) stay cool :) D |
I was exhausted the first few weeks too, Thumbelina. We've put our poor bodies through a lot. Day 5 - great work! You're doing this. |
So, it's Friday night and I'm sat here having a cup of tea. Already looking forward to a fresh, hangover free Saturday morning. Day 6 accomplished. :c032: |
Nice! :) |
Good for you, weekends not hungover are the best! |
It's one of those days... When these words ring so true! "We must be willing to get rid of the life we’ve planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us. The old skin has to be shed before the new one can come. If we fix on the old, we get stuck. When we hang onto any form, we are in danger of putrefaction. Hell is life drying up. The Hoarder, the one in us that wants to keep, to hold on, must be killed. If we are hanging onto the form now, we’re not going to have the form next. You can’t make an omelet without breaking eggs. Destruction before creation." Joseph Campbell. “A Joseph Campbell Companion: Reflections on the Art of Living.” |
I hope you enjoyed your hangover-free Saturday. Hangover-free Sundays are even better. Just sayin'. Keep up the good work. And keep posting. :grouphug: |
Thank you Firstymer! There's nothing like a hangover free weekend. Hope you're keeping well and having a good weekend? |
Just checking in. 8 dry days for me. Still feeling quite tired and overall unwell but I can feel that I'm definitely becoming more 'aware' and the fogginess is disappearing :) |
