Those days it just seems to follow you everywhere

I'm walking the dog and there's teenagers drinking in the park, I go to the local supermarket there's half price offers on beer even though I'm stood in the fruit and veg section , I turn on the tv and it's a Smirnoff advert, The list goes on and on.

Everywhere I turn today it's triggers and temptation! Give me a break!

just get through James ,

It will be a different day tomorrow .

Watch something non-drinking on u-tube , read a book ,

Sometimes there are days where it feels like it's in your face , especially in early sobriety .. It's not like that forever ..

When i see people in pubs or youngsters drinking i feel sad and a bit worried for them nowadays ..

I obsessed over drinking , i obsessed over not drinking .. then i kinda evened out after about a year .. it takes as long as it takes but it diminishes over time in my experience .

Just get through , it dosnt have to be fun just get through , there will be better days .

bestwishes, m

I saw cheap bottles of Echo Falls wine in a GREENGROCERS the other day..really!!
It's bad enough all the corner shops sell booze from 8 till 11, the all night garage up the road, the all night supermarkets..but a GREENGROCERS!
And Savers, that shop that sells cheap cleaning supplies and make-up and vitamins..that sells cheap booze!

Yesterday I was cleaning my refrigerator out and found a water bottle full of whiskey. Had to have been left by one of my daughter's friends. It really threw me. The smell was gross (who'd have thought?) and I was obviously angry at my kids. Even in my home I can't seem to get away from it.

HI James

Those triggers will bite less, in time

I'm really glad you're getting through them though - that's terrific

There's a commercial on YouTube where Charlie Sheen gets out of rehab and on his way through town EVERYBODY is drinking, even the cops,so when I have those"being followed"days I just think of that and laugh

Yeah I know what you mean.

I've caught myself zooming in on friends pictures on Facebook to see if they had a drink somewhere. Crazy right? I think sometimes we look for it too. It's the obsession. But I am finding with each day sober, it gets less noticed or obsessed about. I hope the same for you.

Yeah I'm getting to the point where I don't really care whether or not alcohol is around. I still wouldn't choose to spend time sitting in some bar - but in the grocery store? No big deal.
I think it's kind of like when you get a new car, suddenly you see that car everywhere! When you first stop drinking - the drinks seem to be everywhere!
But that feeling fades.
