My mind wanders far too long (a poem)
 

Uploading pics from my phone when I came across this from a relapse in February. It's probably an ACOA thing but here goes:


The Only Refuge I Have Ever Known

The only refuge I have ever known…
It was not in a limerick, a poem or a song.
It was not in a household, a pub or a school.
It was not among others, wise men or a fool.

The only refuge I have ever known…
Was not here nor there, and was often alone.
It was not among others, wise men or a fool.
It was not in a household, a pub or a school.

The only refuge I have ever known…
It belongs to no other, friend or a foe.

The original title was chosen by my drinking pal, he's a writer. He chose the title, handed me the copy and I wrote the poem.

Wrote several, done some other ones also where we did a line by line. We spent the whole night like that.
