Is anyone constantly dehydrated?

This is my 9th day sober and for the last 6 or 7 I have felt completely dehydrated. I drink at least a bottle of water during the night and drink about 6 glasses during the day. I exercise but always have so I know this is a change for me. Does anyone else have this "side affect" and do you know what it might be?

Proud of my 9th day.

This is normal..... Drink more liquid. I was very dehydrated for almost a month before I felt like I was catching up. Hang in there!

Btw..... I work outside 8-10 hrs a day, so I thought I shouldn't have been so dehydrated either. My body should be used to it... But when you stop drinking something is different. Congrats on 9 days!

Try drinking Gatorade or something similar.

I was probably drinking 15 or 16 glasses of water a day the first four or five days. I couldn't catch up. It takes awhile to rehydrate.

I still feel compulsive about drinking water - I notice in the evenings I drink La Croix back to back like I used to drink glasses of wine.

Im at four months.

I think most of us were chronically dehydrated when drinking.
The body really needs time to adjust--I actually added a bit of salt to my
drinking water as I don't like the sugar and chemicals in sports drinks.

I also drink gallons of herbal tea.
You can get big bags of rganic peppermint, chamomile, oat straw, nettles, etc. cheaply on Amazon.
I mix peppermint with any of the others for the flavor.
I brew a big jar every day and drink over ice with some lemon or lime.
Cheap, full of minerals, and delicious

watch your caffeine intake (it hides in tea, too) as this will also create dehydration.

your body is getting normal and learning to be alcohol-free!

Glad I'm not the only one. Seems like its taking a long time to rehydrate for me also. I really notice it a lot in my lips/mouth.

Maybe have your blood sugar checked. Dehydration can be a sign of some conditions.

It's normal. Are you peeing a lot, too? Sweating? When I was in rehab, they had a lot of Gatorades around for this reason. I got hooked on the mountain berry sugar free one....though I haven't bought any in awhile. It will pass, just keep drinking fluids.

I ALWAYS have something to drink on me- water bottle in my purse, whatever. I switch it up between water, Smart Water, club soda mixed with diet lemonade, and my coffee in the am, and sometimes Diet Coke. At this point I jut keep myself not-thirsty!

If there is nothing wrong healthwise (my thyroid is what I have to keep an eye on) then you're just fine! Keep drinking (HA!).

Thank you so much to everyone for the feedback. I am still very dehydrated but am going to start thinking more fluids ( non-alcoholic of course. Day 11 so I assume this feeling will pass shortly.

Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

In an effort to keep on track, I'm on day 11 , each evening when I come home instead of making a "very strong" cocktail and chasing it with 3-4 more very strong cocktails, I am making myself a Mocktail. Just one as I don't actually chug it - coz why?, plus it's wasted calories. It actually does the trick. I sit outside with my Mocktail, chatting to my daughter or husband, or reading the news. It gives me the space I need - which only alcohol provided previously, and I'm not tempted to put a shot in it. Is this good or am I kidding myself?

La Croix is an obsession of mine! OMG I love love love that stuff! I go out of my mind if I run low on seltzer. I remind myself of Patrick Bateman from American Psycho...people invite me places and I am like "I can't...I've got to go buy more seltzer..." hahaha

You can buy hydrating salts at the pharmacy that you can add to any drink of choice.

Ever since I quit, I have been the same. ( just over 2 months sober for me) I still drink at least a gallon of water a day and/or sparling water. My body craves it just like it did all of the vodka I was drinking for years. I can definitely feel it when I don't get my water intake for the day!
